Young Talent Start-Up 2020

Anthony Mellor from White2Label Manufacturing, one of the leading clothing manufacturers in the UK has been announced as the winner for the 2020 Young Start-Up Talent Award.

The initiative

The initiative is aimed at 16-25 years olds who have a business plan/ concept and is designed to put the young entrepreneurs through a series of stages- all of which not only provides them with invaluable feedback, but also assistance and expert advise in areas ranging from PR, to finance through to design and marketing. Lorraine, from Wildwood PR said the following

"Anthony was great, his business fundamentals are sound and he deserves this award."

Not our first rodeo

Anthony, who founded White2Label Manufacturing in 2018 entered YST in 2019 and made it to the Final 5, but feel short in the final. The competition was very tough and it was a very worthy winner in 2019.

Having rigorously worked on White2Label Manufacturing over the next 12 months, Anthony re-entered the competition and confidently claimed that White2Label will be one of the leading UK clothing manufacturers in the next 6 months. Going through the entire process again, Anthony met some of the same judges and sponsors he’d met with the last year and was able to discuss what White2Label had done over the 12 months, how the white label clothing service had developed and offered a very wide range of clients an accessible custom clothing manufacturing service- all of which was very well received by the judges and sponsors.

Dragons Den Style Event

One of the biggest hurdles of the event in the Final is the Dragon’s Den style event- where a panel of judges are pitched the business concept, then ask a series of questions to understand more about the business and hone specifically into particular areas, as per their expertise.

The confident claims of White2Label Manufacturing being one of the best UK clothing manufacturers was put under the microscope when the judges asked Anthony about the concept. The questions ranged from Coronaviruses impact on the business and how we’d limit the impact moving forward, what drives repeat customers and if we’ve had any repeat business, as well as questions to better understand the choice to expand and bring customisation in-house.

Fortunately, Anthony was prepared for the line of questioning and went through the Dragon’s Den pitch and into the final pitch for the announcement of the winner of the 2020 Young Start-Up Talent award.

The final hurdle

Although the live final pitch was postponed following on from the impact of COVID, YST decided to do a virtual final event with all the judges and sponsors present where White2Label Manufacturing was announced the winner- adding credibility to the already confident claims of leading the UK clothing manufacturers scene. The prize fund of £50,000 split up of different services and products from the sponsors is something we plan to use in order to continue to scale and move forward, whilst offering our clients ever-improving white label clothing and custom clothing manufactures services- all of which is aimed at competing with the other Uk clothing manufacturers.
